Reflecting on Our Guiding Principles

In 2024, with your support, we stayed true to our core values. Together, we focused on three main pillars:

• Cultural Practices: Cultural Expo, Chinese Chorus, TaiChi KungFu Fan, Chinese Folk Dance, Mid Autumn Festival, Lunar New Year/Lantern Festival, Dragon Boat Festival
• Education/Outreach: Love & Unity in May Concert, Healing Ourselves Healing our Communities, Mental Health First Aid Workshops, Community Days, Diabolo, Feel Good Fridays, Zumba, Yoga, Self Defense Workshops
• Intergenerational Involvement: Glow Together Youth Program, GCC Volunteer Program, Cultural Expos

Here are just a few of the numbers that demonstrate the impact of our work:

• 4 major special events attracting over 5,000 participants from NYC and Long
  Island.
• Glow Together Youth Program enrolled 111 students, contributing more
than 3,300 hours of community service, alongside new sessions in cultural and financial literacy.
• 138 wellness classes with 241 unique participants, and total attendance exceeding 1,500.
• 5 workshops focused on addressing the health disparities faced by Asian-Americans, as well as 3 self-defense workshops and 6 mental health training sessions.

Beyond the Numbers: Real Stories of Impact

While the statistics are important, true impact is seen in the stories of individuals whose lives have been touched by your kindness. Like Brenda, who joined as a Glow Together Youth volunteer, because she was inspired by our mission to enrich the lives of Asian Americans in Flushing. Through our “Healing Ourselves, Healing Our Communities” workshops, Brenda discovered that, even as a high school student, she could play a role in addressing social injustices, inclusivity, and the rise of anti-Asian hate. Brenda has since become a leader in the Glow Together program, training her peers and contributing to GCC’s various outreach events over the past two years.

Brenda’s journey is just one example of how your partnership creates lasting change.

Your Partnership: More Than Just Support

Your partnership means more than just financial support or volunteering. You are part of our extended family of believers – believers in our mission to enrich community life through educational, cultural, and social programs! We are inspired by your belief in our mission, and your trust continues to motivate us to dream bigger and achieve more for 2025.

Looking Ahead: Our Vision for 2025

Thanks to you, we’re poised for an even greater impact in 2025. We’re excited to:

• Expand the scope of our signature cultural events.
• Grow the Glow Together Youth Program to reach more young people.
• Develop a more comprehensive health seminar series to narrow the health gap in our community.
