Glow Cultural Center is a community-focused organization that offers easily accessible cultural, educational, and social programming for the public.

Through strong community ties, devoted volunteers, diverse programs and collaborative partnerships, Glow Cultural Center has built a distinct reputation as a dynamic hub for civic engagement. Conveniently located in downtown Flushing, GCC works with local organizations and government agencies to deliver vital information and resources to the communities we serve, equipping them with necessary tools needed to thrive in our society.

In addition, Glow hosts live performances, cultural events, seminars, classes, concerts, and a wide variety of workshops for the many AAPI families, youth, low-income population, and monolingual Chinese-speaking immigrants living and working in our community. We are dedicated to promoting positive cultural exchange and awareness as we strive to enhance community life by being a vibrant gathering place in Flushing.

Marcelo Chan
Managing Director

Our Managing Director, Marcelo Chan is of Chinese descent and he was born in Brazil where he spent most of his adolescence before immigrating to the US. He has complemented his career as an Informational Technology (IT) leader and semiconductor process engineer by being actively involved in community service in the past 25 years through non profits such as United Way and Welcome to America Project. He has been part of the GCC team since March 2020.

Liang Ming
Director of Programs

Liang has served as the Director of Programs at GCC since 2020, leading initiatives in traditional Asian arts, mental health awareness, immigrant rights, and inclusivity. She also advocates for language access in Flushing, organizing cultural expos and seminars to engage local residents. With over 15 years of experience, including her previous role as a senior administrator and lecturer at a prominent university in China, Liang has worked extensively with youth and researchers. She is the President of Hanfu NYC and holds a master’s degree in Folklore.

Cathleen Hwang
Senior Educator

She is passionate about enriching the community with culture and education and is highly involved in our youth volunteer development program.

Cathleen is the 42nd President of Association of Chinese Schools and Principal of Chinese Cultural Association of Long Island & Chinese School from 2010 to 2015. Experienced in Chinese Culture & Language teaching, with her expertise in organizing cultural & educational events/competitions, she successfully connected teachers and parents to help the next generation benefit from their cultural learning.

Chuck Su
Program Coordinator

Marketing expertise to engage Flushing’s Asian community. With a master’s in international and intercultural communication from St. John’s University, Chuck promotes programs like health seminars, self-defense classes, and cultural festivals. Outside work, he enjoys exploring Flushing’s diverse cuisines and cultures.

Nan Jiang
Program Coordinator

Originally from China, Nan holds an MPA in Nonprofit Management and Policy from NYU and a BA in Portuguese. With a passion for nonprofit work, youth empowerment, and Chinese culture, Nan is committed to building programs that strengthen community connections and celebrate diversity. Nan also enjoys traveling and discovering new foods, experiences that inspire a deeper appreciation for cultural exchange.
