WAC Lighting and Glow Community Center donate masks to “North Hempstead Drive-in Movie”s event series.

With the launch of the Summer drive-in Movies series in North Hempstead, drive-in movies featuring movies such as “The Goonies,” the 1985 adventure-comedy, kicks off on May 23rd 8pm at North Hempstead Beach Park, Port Washington.
About 500 local residents signed up and expected to drive-in and they will be the first to experience the series. And the following show will be hosted on Sunday night 8pm. The events open for registrations are now sold out but speaking to Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth’s office, updates are coming this week about upcoming screenings. To make a reservation, visit NorthHempsteadNY.gov/drive-in
“This program is fun, family-friendly, and, most importantly, in-line with the social-distancing guidelines we have all been following over the last two months…” Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth said in a statement.
To help keep local residents, and front line service workers facilitating the event safe, Glow Community Center Covid-19 Relief Fund, WAC Lighting, and friends through great efforts donated 20,000 protective masks to the event series.
WAC Lighting and Glow Community Center founder Tai and Tony Wang and board member Jerry Lo have been coordinating efforts for the deliveries of PPE and other items to frontline essential workers in NYC and Long Island since the start of the pandemic. Working with our network of generous supporters and volunteers, WAC lighting and Glow Community Center were able to collect close to $20,000 worth of donated supplies, such as N95 masks, protective suits, boxes of gloves, protective masks, face shields, goggles and thermometers and raised close to $40,000 in funds.
Special Thanks to our long term supporters such as WAC Lighting / Tai and Tony Wang for matching donations ($15,000), Corning Chinese Christian Church ($7,000) for fundraising in such a short amount of time, Shanghai Commercial Bank, Flushing Bank, Global Federation of Chinese Business Women – New York, Sandy and William Yeh, Michelle Lin, and our supportive community members. It’s supporters like these who continue to inspire even through difficult times.
Also incredibly thankful for the efforts of Ken Hom and his family for helping with coordinating the shipping of PPE from oversea manufacturers and personally donating supplies from his home. At the time Mr. Hom was overseas in China when he had reached out to the Glow Community Center Covid-19 Relief Fundraiser. He immediately contacted his children in the US to arrange for donations of medical supplies. Julie Zhu, a Long Island resident who also followed our fundraiser and donated 3 boxes of N95 masks from her home. Lin Jian Feng & Zheng Zhao Wen for assisting with the direct deliveries to the hands of front line essential workers and medical staff.

若想預約,請上鎮網查詢NorthHempsteadNY.gov/drive-in:……..
