Fall Festival

GCC’s Annual Fall Festival

Inspired by the autumn spirit of harvest festivals, community gatherings, and long-standing Chinese traditions like the Moon Festival, GCC’s Fall Festival welcomes people of all ages & all backgrounds to come celebrate the arrival of Fall while enjoying performances & activities prepared by local community organizations.

As our biggest event of the year, the Fall Festival is held every September at Kissena Corridor Park in Flushing, near Silent Springs Playground. In this free public event, thousands of Queens residents & New Yorkers gather to enjoy activities such as:

Live cultural performances

• From lion dances, martial arts & sports demonstrations, diabolo (Chinese yo-yo) performances, to children’s and adults’ choruses, our Fall Festival offers a diverse mix of music, plays and performances from local artist groups.
• A great opportunity for artists & art organizations to showcase their talents and promote culture and traditions with our community

Vibrant Booths

• Over 60 booths set up by NYC businesses and organizations.
• Countless activities, including traditional Chinese games and riddles, arts & crafts, self defense workshops, bouncy houses, and more.

Free Snacks & Giveaways

• Family favorite popcorn and cotton candy for both kids and adults to enjoy!
• Many thanks to our generous sponsors and supporters who provide numerous raffle prizes and giveaways for the public

Traditional Hanfu Attire & Ethnic Dresses

• Celebrate the incoming fall season dressed in rich cultural clothing!
• Come and see the beautiful dresses worn by attendees that reflect the diverse cultures and traditions that are part of our community
• Hanfu NYC displays various outfits that represent the rich traditions of Chinese clothing – perfect photo opportunity!

Giving Back to the Community

Youth volunteers train for weeks as we prepare for the Fall Festival, and we are proud to distribute City Council-approved Volunteer Certificates to all the volunteers who helpe make the Fall Festival possible!

2019 Fall Festival & Before!

The original “Fall Festival” started in 2016 with Glow Community Center’s forerunner, Glow Foundation, hosting a community get-together on a sunny autumn afternoon in Kissena Corridor Park.
