New York Chinese Chorus (NYCC) was founded in Oct, 2009 with the sponsorship of Mr.Peter Koo, New York City Councilman and Ms Tai Wang, the founding President of NYCC. It has been under the batons of Ms Nin Jiang (2009-2012) and Professor GuoJun Wu (2002-2016).
The present conductor, Shuang Guo, who born in Beijing, Dr. Guo was trained in both disciplines in China where she received a BS degree from the Central Conservatory of Music of Beijing. She later obtained the Artist Diplomas (as a concert pianist and conductor) from Hochschule der Kunste, Berlin, Germany and a Doctorate degree from the University of Missouri.
New York Chinese Chorus (NYCC) promotes cultural exchange by performing both Chinese classical and folk songs to our communities. Tai Wang, as the president, creates an environment for all the music lovers to learn and enjoy music. With the hard work and enthusiasm from all the members, NYCC has organized and participated in musical and cultural events in the US and overseas, also have gained the recognition throughout the New York area. Last NYCC has won the champion from 2016 Hakka international chorus competition. Members are enthusiastic vocalists from China, Taiwan and Southeast Asia in New York area come together to introduce and enhance the understanding of Chinese culture through repertoire of folk songs, classical music as well as pop music.
The chorus was very proud of the champion place from the 2016 International Hakka Chorus Competition in Taiwan. Besides, the chorus won the Beijing International Chorus Competition Silver Award in July 2018. NYCC welcomes music lovers to join us.
