2025 Queensboro Dance Festival x GCC Artist Meetup

On March 8, Saturday afternoon, dancers, performers, and artists from diverse backgrounds gathered for Glow’s 2025 Artist Meetup with Queensboro Dance Festival (QDF). The second of its kind, this info session + networking event saw new and old faces from the multiple shows organized by QDF and GCC over the past year, successfully connecting local performers while sharing the upcoming opportunities from the two hosting organizations.
QDF Founding Executive Director Karesia Batan led the session with a detailed explanation of their 2025 summer tour, going through application details and eligibility requirements, while also sharing this year’s theme and addressing questions from interested artists. Similar to last year, the 2025 tour will run June 7 thru September 13 with over 30 free dance performances, classes, and parties across Queens. (Schedule to be announced in May on QDF’s website!)
GCC Program Coordinator Brooke Yeh then introduced two major GCC events for 2025, the “Love & Unity in May” concert & resource fair happening on May 10th, and the Fall Festival scheduled for October 5th (Sunday). After the informational presentations, participants were able to enjoy refreshments including mini-croissants, mixed fruit, Taiwanese honey jello, macarons, madeleines, and assorted beverages, while connecting and sharing their artistic backgrounds.
This successful meetup strengthened Queens’ vibrant dance community while providing concise pathways for artists to participate in upcoming performance opportunities. The event brought together artists representing a remarkable range of styles, including classical cultural forms such as traditional Chinese dance, Argentine Tango, Kathak & Kuchipudi Indian dance, Caribbean dance (merengue, bachata), and contemporary and modern dance fusing multiple traditions such as ballet, hip-hop, taichi, and acrobatics. It is wonderful to see talented and passionate artists living, working, and thriving in Queens, and your work continues to inspire our efforts to create and maintain a broader network of support for our hardworking creatives.
